Eighteen of the world’s top tennis players will land in Sydney in January for the ATP Cup, including Novak Djokovic.
Today’s release revealed that Djokovic had committed to the Australian Open warm-up event, but Tennis Australia has yet to confirm whether the world’s number one will compete in the grand slam.
Djokovic’s hopes to defend the Australian Open championship remain under a cloud of uncertainty as Serbia repeatedly refused to disclose its vaccine status despite the mandate of the tournament in Melbourne.

Australian doubles legend Todd Woodbridge was excited about the news and told 2GB Wide World of Sports that Djokovic’s participation was a sure sign that he was competing in the Australian Open.
“He had the opportunity to attend or not attend, so he’s put his name on the attendee list, which means you have to believe he’s coming all summer,” Woodbridge said.
“It’s good for tennis, for Novak fans, they’re happy, and I think for Sydney fans, too.
“He knows all the government’s regulations on vaccination, so that means you’d think he’s on it unless he pulls something we don’t expect.”
Sixteen countries with up to five delegates will compete in the third round of the ATP Cup, and four teams were announced today. The winner of each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The best players Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev were listed as the titles of their respective countries.
Australia have been eliminated with the host poker brand, and Alex De Minaur has once again been placed on the team lead. James Duckworth, Max Purcell, John Peers and Luke Saville elsewhere on the Aussie side of the round.
Matches will be played at the Sydney Olympic Park, Qudos Bank Arena and Ken Rosewall Center from New Year’s Day.
