Carter was selected to the first team in the AVCA Midwest All-Region

MANHATTAN, Kan. – One week after he was unanimously selected for the All-Big 12 First Team, K-State’s sophomore Aliyah Carter was named to the first team of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) in the 2021 Midwest All-Region on Tuesday.

Carter, the 2020 AVCA Midwest Region of the Year freshman, earns his second AVCA Midwest All-Region Team award after leading the team to 431 losses and 4.03 losses per series in 2021. He ranks second in the Big 12 and 44^th in the country as kills per series.

Playing for six rounds, Iowa’s 5-foot-9 Dubuque product set a career record in excavations (269), aces (19) and blocks (52). Carter recorded the team’s top 13 doubles this season, leading the Wildcats to their first post-season appearance since 2016.
Carter will become only the fourth player in the program’s history to earn AVCA All-Region First Team honors in consecutive seasons, joining Katie Brand (2014-16), Kaitlynn Pelger (2011-12) and Nataly Korobkova (2007-08).

Over two seasons, Carter’s current career average of 4.06 kills per series is the first in the rally points era in program history (since 2001) and second only to Liz Wegner’s 4.48 kills per series (1998-2001). In addition, he is the first in the Wildcat rally scoring season, turning over two in a series of more than 4.00 losses.

Carter, the first cat to be unanimous in the All-Big 12 First Team selection as both a freshman and sophomore, won five games and 20 more kills this season, including a season record at 23 TCU on October 22nd. The 11-track performances of 11 careers are the second highest in the program history of the rally scoring period.

The Carter Whole Area Award is 26th^th under the authority of the head coach Suzie Fritz and 15^th first team award.

K-State’s (15-13, 6-10 Big 12) season ended in the 2021 NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships after earning a big bid for the post-season tournament. The Wildcats fell in three rounds to the Florida State in the opening round last Friday, marking the program’s 18th.^th an all-time NCAA tournament appearance and 13^th Fritzin alla.
