Nigeria’s best player Joseph Imeh advanced to the second round of the 2021 Rainoil Tennis Championship, defeating Joseph Jimoh 4-0, 4-1.

Umeh, who is aiming for his fourth consecutive national title in the CBN, Dala and VEMP championships, did a light job for his opponent in less than an hour at Ikeja’s Lagos Country Club Center Court.

The old war horse, Albert Bikom, defeated Tochukwu Selle 4-1, 4-2, while former national champion Nonso Madueke defeated Michael Emmanuel 4-1, 4-1. Wins include Samson Adewale, Anthony Leo, David John and Nurudeen Adebisi.

In the women’s singles, Angel McLeod was ruthless when he crushed Taiwo Afolab 4-0, 4-0 and Aanu Aiyegbusi dug deep to get ahead at the expense of Mary Udofia 4-2, 5-4 (6).

Destiny Okhinaye saw Toyosi Adeus 4-1, 4-2 to advance to the second round, as did Mary Tenu-Michael, who defeated Bunmi Arena 5-4 (7), 4-1.
