Osasuna 2-2 Barcelona: Xavi’s Catalans Drop MORE Points as Chimy Avila Makes a Late Draw

Barcelona ended a terrible week with more dropped points as Chimy Avila’s late draw earned a stubborn Osasuna draw against poor Catalans.

Xavi’s team dropped out of the Champions League in the middle of the week, and Real Betis won it last weekend – but seemed to be going back to the winning streak as young Nico Gonzalez and Abde Ezzalzouli took them to a 2-1 lead on Sunday night.

But Barcelona returned to the lead in the second period under controversial circumstances when young striker Abde hit home Ousmane Dembele in the back post of a bent cross as Osasuna shouted a penalty.

Still, the stubborn hosts felt less hurt as substitute striker Avila struck an amazingly low shot from a far corner after getting to keep Barcelona ninth and 15 points behind LaLiga leader Real Madrid.

The scorer for Abde Ezzalzouli was Ousmane Dembelen 2-1.

But Chimy Avila’s late attack brought Osasuna a well-deserved point against a young Catalan team

Despite disappointments, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believes the Catalans will improve on their young team, which included teenage players such as Gavi, Nico and Abde – promising defender Alejandro Balde on the bench.
