The Cowboys-Washington Football Team gives NFC East a sense of antiquity

Things are fun again in NFC East.

It seems that after a period when all four teams in the division are stuck in mediocrity, we have returned to the rough and turbulent NFC of years past, with a concrete dispute between Dallas, Washington, Philadelphia and the United States. Giants.

The past week has certainly felt like it was ahead of Sunday’s Dallas-Washington showdown at FedEx Field in number one.

The Cowboys are at the top of the series 8-4, while Washington comes in at 6-6 and needs a win to beat NFC East.

The teams will face each other again on December 26 in Dallas, and if this week is a show – with Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy and Washington coach Ron Rivera in a little word war – it should be a spicy few weeks at NFC East.

Washington’s win at home on Sunday makes for a stressful last month in Dallas.

The pre-game discussion was started by McCarthy, who told reporters earlier this week: “We’re winning this game. I am confident in that. We know what people think of us. We love it. We are happy with who we are, where we are, but I am excited about what we have ahead of us.

Rivera wasn’t amused by McCarthy’s courage, as McCarthy’s tactics were a clear attempt to “get our heads off”.

“He’s now done it for him and what he said,” Rivera told Washington reporters. “It’s not about his players anymore. I think it’s a big mistake. That’s why you’re not telling me those things. At the end of the day, we [coaches] don’t queue up and play.

“So, as for me, I’m just trying to stay away from it [trash talk] part of it. We just get there, we play football, we play hard and we see how things go. The biggest thing I look at… is what happens on Sundays. All these other things are of interest [until] you are playing a game. That’s the thing that matters. ”

Washington enters the game after winning four consecutive games, and is a team that feels confident about itself and its travel builder Taylor Heinicke.

Washington, which currently ranks sixth in the NFC playoffs, has not won five in a row since winning the last seven games in 2012. Before that, it had not won it since 2005.

Washington’s hot series has left the Cowboys to falter their confidence.

When Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was asked if he wanted to support his coach’s words, he said, “Yeah. What [McCarthy said] does not put us in a bad place. Obviously, if you’re getting ready for this game, you’re a Dallas Cowboy; if you’re a fan, you expect to go in and win every game, so I don’t think he’s said anything other than [what are] all in the thoughts of this building. He just voted for it. Now we need to make sure we are accountable for our words. And I think it has it all, a coach who sets the tone for the week.

The Cowboys could have both of their best runners, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, on the field on Sunday after Elliott suffered a right knee injury and Pollard had a partially torn sole in his 58-yard TD run.

Elliott has played six consecutive games without more than 51 yards.

During Thursday’s team meeting, McCarthy showed his players a video of the history of the competition between the two series, with Dallas having a 73-47-2 advantage in the series. Dallas lost both games last season, but played both without Prescott, who has a 7-1 career record against Washington.

“We’re clearly going to go to Washington to win the game,” McCarthy said, doubling his warranty.

“The only guarantee in this world is death and taxes,” Washington defender Takla Jonathan Allen said.

“We’ll be there on Sunday and see what happens,” Rivera said.
