Chicago Bears drop high goals in best time in penalty shootout for Green Bay Packers

Fields made 18/33 passes at 224 yards with two TDs, two interceptions and a pass value of 70.8 and rushed to a game height of 74 yards with nine moves.

The Bears (4-9) have now lost seven of eight matches since the season opened 3-2. They have now dropped six straight to the Packers, 11/12 and 21/24.

Here’s what happened in the game:

The Bears led Cairo Santos to a 23-yard finish 3-0 4:21 in the first quarter. They settled for a kick when Fields didn’t get in touch with Cole Kmet in the finish line in the third and after the goal in the fifth.

The Bears increased their margin 10-0 as they took the next ball to Fields ’46-yard touch to Grant. Fields grabbed the shotgun with a click and turned the ball forward a few feet across the border to Grant, who climbed around the left edge and climbed along the sideline in a convoy of five blockers.

Unfortunately, Bears ’leadership didn’t last long. The Packers made two touchdowns between 1:03 in the middle of the second quarter and took a 14-10 advantage.

First, Rodgers ’2-yard TD pass to Allen Lazard in the fourth goal narrowed the deficit to 10-7. Three games later, Fields threw late to Darnell Mooney in the output line and safety Rasul Douglas cut it back for 55 yards to score.

Notably, the Bears responded with two of their own touchdowns in the 1:49 period at the end of the first half and took the 24-14 lead again.

First, Fields responded to his mistake by throwing an oblique feed to Byrd, who drove 54 yards into the touchdown. Green Bay’s subsequent run stopped at 50, and Grant followed with a spectacular 97-yard punt return touchdown. Grant withdrew from the 4-point ball, ran to the right, and then turned the field to the left, taking advantage of the blockers wall and racing along the left sideline.

Packers rose 24-21 in Rodgers ’38-yard TD pass to Davonte Adams: 44 in the second quarter. But Khalil Herbert’s 42-yard return in a later kick-off helped get Santos ’44-yard goal when time ran out in the first half, allowing Bears to increase his lead 27-21.

The Packers opened the second half with two touches of Aaron Jones at 1:00 and moved the 27-21 deficit to the 35-27 lead.

First, the Green Bay runner’s 3-yard TD run limited the 9-game and 75-yard run in the second half opening control.

Two games later, defender Preston Smith forced a fumble with Fields in a blind sack recovered by outside supporter Rashan Gary in Bears 23. On the next starting pass, Rodgers gave a 23-yard TD pass to Jones.

After Mason Crosby’s 20-yard field goal, the Packers took control of the two-ball 38-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Rodgers ’fourth TD pass, 3 yards to Adams, increased the margin to 45-27 with 4:33 left in the final quarter.

Santos scored the final points of the game with a 43-yard field goal that closed the gap 45-30 to 1:21.
