Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from this week’s Mubadala Tennis World Championships after receiving a positive Covid-19 test.
The US Open champion, 19, had already traveled to the United Arab Emirates to perform at the show with leading men’s and women’s players, including Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal.
Raducanun was scheduled to face Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
“I was really looking forward to playing in front of the fans here in Abu Dhabi, but unfortunately after getting a positive Covid-19 test I have to postpone the next event,” Raducanu said.
“I will isolate according to the rules and hopefully get back to court soon.”
The statement from the tournament organizers added: “Emma is now isolated and following all the necessary protocols. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the field soon.”
Raducanu, who became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows in September, will travel to Australia after Christmas to prepare for next year’s first major tournament.

The British teenager, who has worked with new coach Torben Beltz, will start his first full season professional tour at the Melbourne Summer Set – one of two WTA 250 events to be held in Melbourne Park from 3 January.
Raducanu, 19 on the world list, has won two of his five matches after his memorable run in New York.
