Tennis matches: 6 Moroccan men were banned from playing for several offenses

One Moroccan tennis player has received a life ban and five others have received long bans and fines for being found guilty of several match-fixing charges.

The sanctions came after an investigation by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) found that the men had all violated the rules of its anti-corruption program.

Sextet was found guilty of several crimes, including repairing parts of matches, getting money for repairs, and failing to report corrupt approaches.

30-year-old Ayoub Chakrouni, who reached the top of his career in doubles in September 2016, received a lifetime ban and $ 10,000 fines.

Amine Ahouda, 24, and Anas Chakrouni, 22, were banned from competing for 11 years and 10 years and fined $ 5,000 each, while 22-year-old Mohamed Zakaria Khalil, 20-year-old Soufiane El Mesbahi and 21-year-old Yassir Kilani, were all nine years of non-compete and $ 5,000 fines.

The six players who were temporarily banned from playing in July (the date on which their ban is deemed to have begun) have 20 days to appeal to the Sports Arbitration Court.

“Sanctions mean that players are not allowed to play or participate in any tennis event that has been authorized or sanctioned by an international tennis governing body or national association for the duration of its ban,” ITIA said in a statement.

Last year, the Tennis Integrity Unit suspended the life of Youssef Hossam, a 21-year-old Egyptian at the time, who was found guilty of several match-fixing and other corruption offenses between 2015 and 2019.
