Zion Williamson Injury Update: Pelicans Targets Sick Leg at least 4-6 Weeks After Injection

New Orleans Pelicans pace Zion Williamson re-evaluated 4-6 weeks after receiving the injection in his injured right leg, the team announced on Thursday. Williamson underwent surgery to repair a broken leg in the interim, and since the bone has not healed properly, he has not yet played in the match this season. Earlier this month, she was scheduled to return to rehearsals, but continued soreness prevented her.

According to Pelicans, Williamson can only participate in “low-impact, partial-weight-bearing activities for long periods of time.”

Williamson met Dr. Richard Ferkel on Wednesday from the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles, according to a team, and then received a “biological injection at the fracture site to stimulate bone healing.” Ferkel has evaluated and made the cut to a long list of NBA players, including Joel Embiid, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

In the short term, this will reduce New Orleans ’already low chances of reaching the playoffs. Without franchising, New Orleans has gone from season 26 to 21 in the NBA’s 26th best attack, 26th best defense and 26th best net ranking. However, it has won six of its last 11 games and is only 3.5 matches away from the last place in the game.

From another point of view, the Pelicans are only 3.5 in the top of the game in betting. And because the lottery odds are flat for the league’s three worst teams, New Orleans doesn’t always have to be at the end of the standings. Only Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons are in a better position in terms of tanks.

The optimistic point of view, then, is that the best the Pelicans can do for Williamson’s future is to be patient with his feet and work out a new potential star next June. However, if you think about the big picture, notice that Williamson has played in 85 of the 174 regular season matches since they were selected, and they have had a different coach in each of their three seasons. New Orleans needs to get him healthy, keep him healthy, and find some sort of stability.
