LSU QB Myles Brennan exits university football transfer portal to play in Tigers in 2022

Quarterback Myles Brennan will remain at LSU after entering the 2022 college football season in November, he announced Thursday.

“There’s no place like home. Let’s drive with the tiger people!” Brennan, who opened the 2020 season as a beginner at LSU before her injury, tweeted on Thursday.

An LSU spokesman confirmed to ESPN that Brennan, who had been on the portal, will remain on the team under new head coach Brian Kelly.

Brennan started her first three games in 2020 before she suffered a rupture of her abdominal muscle against Missouri, ending her season. He then suffered a hand fracture before 2021 that required surgery.

Including 2019, when he backed Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrowa when LSU won the national championship, Brennan has 1,712 assists and 13 touchdowns during his college career.

Max Johnson, who replaced Brennan in 2020 and started this season, came to the transfer portal earlier this month. Johnson is expected to announce his transfer destination later Thursday.

Prior to Brennan’s announcement, LSU had only one scholarship defender, Garrett Nussmeier, a freshman who appeared in four games this season. On Wednesday, LSU signed the quarterback of Walker Howard, ESPN’s top-ranked double-threat quarterback and No. 20 2022 overall.

Tigers will end their season against Kansas State in the TaxAct Texas Bowl on Jan. 4 in Houston.
