T20s. This is a kind of Merry Christmas – Happy New Year gift to Pakistan!
At a time when the coronavirus threatens to upset the international sports calendar, the agreement between NZC and PCB should serve as a model for other major cricket boards.
The first visit was already agreed as part of the regular Future Tours (FTP) program; another was held to make up for lost matches after New Zealand abandoned its tour of Pakistan in October for security reasons.
The latter will include two additional ODIs, in addition to those originally planned, and will be held in April as it must be played during the current FTP period, which ends in May 2023.
NZC CEO David White said his organization was pleased with the return of Blackcaps to Pakistan.
“Our chairman Ramiz Raja and Martin Snedden had very fruitful and constructive discussions in Dubai, which further strengthened the bond between the two organizations,” White said.
“It’s good to come back.” Ramiz Raja, Chairman of the PCB, welcomed the development. “I am pleased with the outcome of our discussions and negotiations and thank Martin Sedden and his board for their understanding and support,” Ramiz said.
“This reflects the strong, cordial and historical relationship between the two governments and strengthens Pakistan’s position as an important member of the Cricket Brotherhood.”
The details of the tours and matches have now been confirmed, so PCB and NZC will continue to work together to finalize the series dates to be announced in due course.
