“I don’t look at it the way I do against Trevor.”

Well. 1 general selection Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville Jaguars will face No. 2 general selection at ZL Wilson and the New York Jets on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. But Wilson doesn’t watch a game about him with Lawrence to prove which one is better.

“Do we want our team to beat Jaguar? Yes, and I hope I can play well,” Wilson said. through the team’s official website. “But I don’t look at it like I do against Trevor or my stats against Trevor. It has nothing to do with it. It’s about winning. How do I get my team in the best position to beat them?”

The Jets and Jags haven’t won much with their rookie quarterbacks. New York have won three games this season, two when Wilson started. Jags has a total of two victories under Lawrence.

For Wilson, Sunday is not number one vs. 2, but the next opportunity to improve and fight for victory.

“The guys are hitting this time of year, but on top of that, I’m mentally excited and looking forward to the challenge of playing, even at this point in the year,” he said. “I just feel like I need it, it feels like it’s going to be good for us as a team. I’m really looking forward to getting out and working on things where I need to improve and get as many repetitions as possible. I can.”

Sunday’s match is the fourth time since 1950 that the QBs, who were ranked number one and number two in the same draft, will face in their coming season. Selection number 2 is 2-1 in the previous three games: Marcus Mariotan Titans defeated Jameis Winston in the Buccaneers in 2015; Peyton Manning’s Colts defeated Ryan Leaf Chargers in 1998; and Rick Mirer’s Seahawks defeated the Drew Bledsoen Patriots in 1993.

Overall, the number one quarterbacks are ranked 6-3 all the time (not just newcomers) compared to the number one QBs in the same draft.

“We both have different situations, different teams,” Wilson said. “One thing I learned through (NFL Scouting) Combine training is that I’m not like me against him. We can both have success.”

Their newcomer campaigns have not brought much success. But since both deal with the rocky environment, the book is not written about Lawrence or Wilson after one season.
