Elina Svitolina wants to make one thing clear before her exhausting 27-hour trip on Monday from Switzerland via Sydney to Adelaide.

No one was following the original specialty of the Ukrainian tennis star with the Covid-19 vaccine, which means that the vaccination of his perfection had not yet been reported in June.

The vaccination mandate for the Victorian government and the Australian Open is still a hot topic as the tennis summer prepares to start next week – but it’s not a problem for 15th place for Svitolina.

“Even if they told me I needed to get a third shot, I’d love to do it because I see so many new cases now – and a lot of players,” Svitolina told News Corp.

“A lot of our friends get Covid, so it’s pretty hard right now.”

Svitolina and her husband, a French tennis player and former 6th on the world rankings Gael Monfils, plan to be in South Australia in two tournaments and are in the top three out of four combined.

Without a quadruple injury that thwarted his effort to reach the WTA final for the fourth time, the 27-year-old is interested in testing where he is up against a buffer field that includes Ash Barty and eight of the top 10.

It’s the fun-loving Svitolina’s first trip to Adelaide, but Monfils has explored the city after being coached by Roger Rasheed of South Australia.

“It’s amazing to see so many good players signing up for the game since the start of the season,” he said.

“Everyone is trying to get ready for the first (grand slam) tournament in Melbourne, so it’s a really good field and it’s going to be a really tough start to the tournament.

“There’s no time for adjustments – you have to be ready for the first round mentally and physically, so I think this is very exciting for the tournament and also for the players.”

Svitolina, who broke into the top 10 in 2017 and retained her place until October this year, advanced to the U.S. Open semi-finals, won the championship in Chicago and earned a singles bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

That Olympic medal was Ukraine’s first in tennis, so it didn’t have a competition for its 2021 highlight on the field, but his Swiss wedding in July surpassed everything else.

“It was a very special moment for me and Gael,” Svitolina said.

“That month was very busy for both of us. We had a wedding and the next day we had to fly right to Tokyo, so no big party, but in the end it was very special.

“We shared this moment with our family and close friends. It was a really small wedding and it was very special – this moment will surely remain in our memories forever.
