(AFP) – Novak Djokovic, whose lawyers said on Saturday (January 8) that he was exempted from the Australian open Covid-19 vaccine due to a positive test on December 16, was in Belgrade the following day at a young players’ event without a mask.

In an application to a federal court seeking the annulment of his entry visa, his attorneys said that “the date of the first positive Covid-PCR test was recorded on December 16, 2021.”

The Belgrade Tennis Association said in a Facebook post after the ceremony on December 17 that Djokovic had handed over cups and prizes to the best young players of 2021.

The event, which took place at the Novak Tennis Center in the Serbian capital, was attended only by the award winners “for epidemiological measures related to the coronavirus pandemic,” the organization said in a statement.

It was accompanied by several pictures of Djokovic posing with union officials and about 20 young players holding cups and awards.
