Notre Dame Hockey: The Irish finished the Penn State Series with a 5-4 OT win

Notre Dame Fighting Irish locked in a sweep on Saturday in the Nittany Lion country. After Penn State’s 4-2 W on Friday, the Irish beat an early 3-1 deficit and won it in overtime.

The first season

Irish striker Solag Bakich didn’t waste time after it and got Notre Dame on the board in just under two minutes. The addictive penalty given to Notre Dame Zach Plucinski after about six minutes was not enough to cut off the Irish pace, but as the episode began to reach midway, Nittany Lion Kevin Wall equalized the situation with Penn State’s first goal. Goal Penn Staten Jimmy Dowd, Jr. just about five minutes later brought in a score of 2-1, the Nittany Lions.

As the episode drew to a close, the five-minute game and Notre Dame Jesse Lansdell’s head touch error offered the game a second-to-last chance to play for either team, but the result remained in the second set. By the end of the first period, the Nittany Lions had barely finished the Irish 19-18 and each team had won 10 starting games.

Second episode

As the clock dropped from the Irish penalty kick, Dowd, Jr. found the Nittany Lions team in the back of the net, even though the second match wasn’t even two minutes after the game’s only power game goal.

The Irish launched showers in the last half of the season. Jack Adams grabbed another goal for the Irish and Nick Leivermann scored shortly after Adams was entered. However, Nittany Lions got the final say as the third installment approached. Penn State defender Clayton Phillips scored less than two minutes left and raised 4-3, Nittany Lions.

Third season

The teams went for the halftime break at 4-4. Notre Damen Cam Burke leveled the scoreline at 4-4. This time, the Irish over doubled Nittany Lions ’12 shots during the period by 27.

OT

With just 0.2 seconds left, Notre Damen Max Ellis grabbed his team’s fifth goal tonight and won it on Penn State’s ice.
