1. Klay Day

It had been 941 days since we had seen Klay Thompson dress up for the Golden State Warriors – and his return on Sunday was not disappointing. For every Warrior warming up in a No. 11 shirt, the sharp applause when he was last announced in the Warriors intro, Klay’s first shot at the opening minute, and even a weighty poster marking his long return journey. Thompson finished 17 points in a 7-18 shootout (3-8 out of three) in 20 minutes as the Warriors defeated the Cavs 96-82.

The NBA is simply better when Klay Thompson is on the field. So glad we got him back, as did his other NBA players who shared their thoughts after Klay’s expected return. After the game, Klay discussed how gratifying Sunday’s game was after he had been out of the game for more than two years after a devastating leg injury.

Posters aren’t a big part of Klay’s game, but here are two minutes of the best throws of his career.

2. Kyrie makes her season debut on the Nets

Kyrie Irving made her long-awaited season debut in the Brooklyn Nets when she faced the Pacers on Wednesday in Indiana. Kyrie showed no signs of rust when he scored 22 points in a 9-17 shootout at four assists, three rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes as the Nets rushed past the Pacers in the second half.

Due to his vaccination, Irving is not eligible to play home games in Brooklyn, so Wednesday’s win is his only game so far this season – the Nets ended week 12 1-1 without him. The next game for Kyri will be played on Monday. when the Nets visit the Blazers; Nets are already a league 14-3 so far this season and now their road lineup is even stronger.

3. The Mavericks stop Dirk’s No. 41 jersey

It was an evening called 41 Forever in Dallas when the Mavericks honored the biggest player in the team’s history on Wednesday night. In addition to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban retiring from Dirk Nowitzk’s No. 41 shirt, he unveiled a model of the statue that will soon welcome fans to the American Airlines Center.

And of course the statue is from Dirk, which makes for a distinctive one-legged fading.

4. Milestone Watch: LeBron in 10th innings, 7th innings

Of the five major stats, LeBron James is now ranked in the top 10 of all time in three of them as he rose to 10th place this week in career steals and seventh in career entries.

LeBron became the Fifth Player to rank in the top 10 in both career feeds (7th; 9888) and career steals (10th; 2113), joining John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul and Gary Payton. LeBron is the only striker among these five players, and the only one to have accumulated more than 22,000 points in his career – LeBron is third ever with 36,205 points.

As LeBron continues to present unprecedented figures in its 19th NBA season, there are two significant milestones on the horizon – LeBron has left 33 rebounds out of 10,000 rebounds and 122 assists per 10,000 assists in his career. No player in league history has amassed 10,000 in both categories.

5. The Grizzlies continue the winning streak for nine games

Memphis ended the week as the hottest team in the league, winning one season franchise record for nine consecutive games. The Grizzlies have not lost since December 23 at Golden State and will be in fourth place in the Western Conference for the 13th week, leading five games fifth from Dallas and just 3.5 matches back from the first place Warriors.

In the last nine games of each team, Memphis is in fourth place points made (117.7 pages) and sixth inch score allowed (104.9 s / s) and the league-leading difference of 12.8 s / g. And Morant has led the Grizzlies with 27.8 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 6.3 points, firing 52.5% off the field and 50% off 3 points. 7. The first All Star ballots have been released

Currently, the captains ’match would be West Stephen Curry and East Kevin Durant – former teammates against each other in the selection of All-Star teams in Cleveland – as they lead their own conferences in a fan vote. Curry (2,584,623) has a dominant lead over LeBron (2,018,725) in the west, while Durant (2,360,435) has a smaller lead over Giannis Antetokounmpo (2,145,835) in the east.

Fan voting ends on January 22nd, so you have less than two weeks to make your voice heard. Be sure vote every day, including Thursday, January 13, when each vote is counted twice.

8. Trae drops the NBA’s best 56 points of the season

Trae Young had an age-group game on Monday, January 3, when he made the best of his career and NBA season record 56 points Atlanta’s loss to Portland 14 assists. Young shot 17-26 from the field, 7-12 from the 3-point range and 15-15 from the free throw line, while creating another 30 Hawks points with his passes.

Has been eight matches in NBA history where the player scored at least 55 points and 10 assists – none had more than 14 centimeters from Young. Unfortunately for Young, he is also the only player on the list to lose the game at 55-10.
