Chicago Bears Continues Search, Interview Philadelphia Eagles Former Coach Doug Pederson

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Chicago Bears interviewed former Philadelphia Eagles coach Doug Pederson and Cleveland Browns director Glenn Cook on Wednesday about their vacant coaching and managerial roles.

The posts opened on Monday when the Bears fired former coach Matt Nagy and general manager Ryan Pace after a 6-11 season.

Pederson led the Philadelphia Franchise Series Super Bowl after the 2017 season. He was 42-37-1 in two division championships and three playoffs before winning 4-11-1 in 2020 and getting fired.

Pederson and Nagy have been friends under Andy Reid’s time in Philadelphia and Kansas City.

Cook has spent six years in the Cleveland office. He was Brown’s deputy director of professional scouting from 2016 to 2019 and their vice president of player staff for the past two seasons, working with Andrew Berry, vice president and general manager of football operations. Cook also served as a scout assistant at the Indianapolis Colts (2011 and 2012) and as a professional scout at the Green Bay Packers (2012-2015).

He was a mate at the University of Miami from 2004-2008. He was also selected by the Chicago Cubs for Baseball in the 46th round in 2009, and he played 34 games for the rookie league team that year.

The Bears finished in the NFL draft after 7 seasons, but that choice belongs to the New York Giants out of the deal.
