The 65th meeting of the Kohima Village Sports Association (KVSA) in 2022 will be held on 17-22. January at Khuochieze, Indira Gandhi Stadium – Riileizou and Kohima Indoor Stadium – Thephegei.

The meeting is hosted by the Kohima Village Youth Organization (KVYO).

KVSA was founded in 1944 and its goal was to promote the friendship and unity of the villagers. The mascot of the encounter is a rooster named “Vi Lope.”
Prime Minister Neiphiu Rio will visit Khuochiezie as a special guest at the opening ceremony.

500-600 athletes compete for top prizes

The meeting will be attended by 500-600 athletes from the four khelis of the village of Kohima (Tsütuonuomia, Lhisemia, Dapfhütsum and Pfüchatsum), said Neingusalie Khruomo, a convener of the LXV KVSA Meet 2022 Core Committee, speaking at a news conference here today.
They compete in 49 Gold for Athletic events, 5 Gold for Games events and 13 Gold for Indoor events, including under-16 wrestling and senior wrestling.
The week-long encounter is marked by volleyball, basketball, football, Naga wrestling, cross-country running, chess, badminton, table tennis and athletics.
The meeting will see three additional events: a 5,000-meter run (men), a 4×400-meter message (men) and a triple jump (women).

Naga wrestling

Wrestling for under-16s will be held on Day 2 and senior wrestling on Day 6 in Khuochieze.
The chief judge is Kezhalelie Keretsii and the deputy judge is Neisavotuo Whuorie. Judges include; Kedilelhou Belho, Neizokho Solo, Phoukuowhelie Rutsa, Keduoneizo Pienyii, Kevisetuolie Miachie-o, Kelhoukhriezo Dziivichii, Keneizhalie Kire and Kelhouvakhrie Kire. Kewhimia wrestling judges assist as a wrestling judge.
Meanwhile, the referees of the football match are the Kohima Town Club, the athletics Nagaland Athletic Officials Club, the Kohima District Volleyball Association, the Kohima District Chess Association, the Kohima District Badminton Association and the Kohima District Table Tennis Association.
KVYO President Ruokuoneituo Phewhuo and the Konvenor production team Khriesazo Liezietsu will also be present at the press conference.

To monitor the COVID SOP

The COVID-19 SOPs issued by the state government will be strictly adhered to during the meeting, Khruomo said.
All spectators, players and match officials have been encouraged to wear a mask.
Khruomo announced that all players and match judges will be guaranteed 100% COVID vaccination.
