At the beginning of the new year comes a new one variant ruin our plans and decisions. New year, new me it is getting harder to follow because we are stuck in a pandemic. However, if we have learned anything in the last two years, it is finding ways to adapt and succeed in the worst disasters. One of the most harmful areas is health and condition individuals around the world. Here is our selection of sports to keep your body (and mind) in top shape this year.

  1. Chess it out!

If Beth Harmon has taught us anything about Queen’s Gambit that chess is a game of mind and everyone should taste it. Although the sport is primarily related to the game of power, at its core all games are crystallized in a focused, calm, collected and calculating mind. The game only requires a chessboard and two players, unless you want to play on both sides of the board. This year, put your mind to the test and show the courage of Beth Harmon while you are in it.

  1. Raise the paddle

SFU has many table tennis tables in AQ, both indoors and outdoors, encourages students to pick up a paddle and serve friends. Also known as breeze and Table tennis, you don’t have to be a professional to play the game. As in chess, two players take part in a rally by hitting the ball back and forth on the table after one bounce until the other player fails. The game not only improves hand and eye coordination, but it also improves reflexes. The next time you see an empty table at the university, don’t miss the opportunity to play ping pong.

  1. Try Hula-Hooping

This activity is likely to be related to children attending play school similar health benefits of aerobic activities such as dancing. Hula hooping only requires a rim around the waist, and it is a one-man operation. It helps confirm core muscles, increases flexibility and burns calories.   1. Indoor basketball

  1. Learn a new game: Carrom

Carrom is a game of Indian origin with a carrom board and up to four players. The board game consists of approx 19 round pieces in three different colors. Like most board games, it requires concentration and precision and helps to practice the mind. The “lottery and pocket” game is reminiscent of a “revealing” game billiards and it can be played by people of all ages. It has appeared in Commonwealth Games too.
