The second beating collapse in England gave Australia a 146-run win in Hobart and sealed the humiliation of the hosts 4-0 Ashes in three days of play in the fifth test.
England were 0-68 chasing 271 runs to victory in the Bellerive Oval before losing 10 runs in just 56 runs to finish the meager 124 runs.
Michael Vaughan declared, “Australia is way too good for England, but I have to say this is embarrassing … they’ve just thrown in the towel.” Shane Warne called it “difficult to watch,” but praised Australia’s sensational bowling attack.
“Australia has managed this with pure good cricket and good bowling,” he said. “At the end of the day, they were ruthless. They hunted in the herd. “
The collapse was only the latest in a series of nightmare breakthroughs, losing 10-61 in the second set at MCG and 8-74 and 8-86 in Gababa and Adelaide.

England captain Joe Root said: “It’s been a really difficult tour for us, we’ve played good cricket in parts, but we just haven’t managed to get the whole match together. That’s what we need to learn as a group.”

Earlier in the day, England’s fast-paced Mark Wood finished in stunning numbers 6-37 when only 155 were thrown to Australia in the second innings – this was the first time the hosts had not reached 250. However, England were still 271st to win the Bellerive Oval.
Rory Burns and opening partner Zak Crawley got the tourists up and running, but the last night before tea Burns tried to leave the ball with Green and cut it and dropped with a score of 26 and a score of 68.

Wood’s extra momentum has plagued several Australian strokes throughout the series and proved to be a big factor in their second turn.
He both caught Boland, the night watchman, and Travis Head, the first-century contender in the innings, caught Billings, and only 22 runs were added to the night’s 37-3 score.
He then lured an incorrect hook shot from the dangerous Steve Smith, who hit it straight into Malan with a deep, fine leg, leaving Australia at 63 to six.
Carey, who scored the best goal with 49 points, and allrounder Green tried to rebuild the innings and took the score to 112 before Stuart Broad was immediately taken back into the attack and got Green lbw trapped at 23.
Wood then grabbed his fifth visit when Ollie Pope grabbed Starc for a short stint.
The next ball had more drama when Wood Yorker hit Cummins ’leg and was given an lbw, but the ball was missing from the stump in the review.
Carey didn’t last long after the lunch break as he played an explosive shot and ousted Billings. Four races later, Wood finished Australia as he cleaned up Cummins.
