WSU Cougars defender Takla Dallas Hobbs will end his football career and pursue other projects

PULLMAN – Defending veteran Dallas Hobbs will not return to Washington state next season.

He’s not moving either.

Hobbs, a five-year-old Cougar, has already begun his career as an entrepreneur. He announced on Twitter tonight that he “decided not to complete my final year of eligibility so I could focus on some very exciting new opportunities.”

Among other companies, Hobbs is one of the founders and co-owner of the Common Language Brewing Company, which will open in downtown Spokane 14. February According to The Daily Evergreen.

A district-wide academic performer with a degree in digital technology and culture, Hobbs lists his specialty on his Twitter profile: “multimedia designer, content producer, podcaster, artist, college athlete, activist.”

So it’s a big surprise that he hangs the brackets and directs his attention elsewhere.

Hobbs played in 29 matches in the Cougars after the red-shirt freshman season 2018, making 11 starts and recording 27 tackles, eight losses and two kicks. Weighing 6 feet and 285 pounds from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he started all four Cougs matches last season and was one of WSU’s most productive indoor booms in 2019, when he started seven times and played a total of 5.5 TFLs. from his bushes and forced a fumble.

But Hobbs was used sparingly this season in a deep round at the D-tackle drive. Currently, Cougar’s top four DTs – Ahmir Crowder, Amir Mujahid, Christian Mejia and Antonio Pule – are returning in 2022. WSU also recently signed Nusi Malan, a promising transfer from the University of Virginia.
