The Buccaneers defense gets a “swagn back” when the Eagles hit

The championship defense is back in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers battled injuries during the regular season, but got the main defenders back for the season. Todd Bowles ’unit proved to continue to dominate Sunday’s Philadelphia Eagles’ 31-15 win.

The defense dominated the game when Bucs took the lead early on. Tampa’s defense allowed only the first seven falls, 179 yards and no points in three quarters and forced two rounds. D also allowed only 44 rush yards for the NFL No. 1 match in the first 45 minutes of play.

“There is no doubt,” coach Bruce Arians said of his defense as dominant. Through The Athletic. “For three quarters, they were fantastic.”

Passers Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul and linebacker Lavonte David returned when the end of the regular season was gone. David, who was injured in a knee injury, was released on Saturday.

“It’s really hard not to play football for three weeks,” David said. “You see the guys out there having fun, and you’re not with them, and you’re not the leader they might need at certain times … The first home game in a long time, and I couldn’t miss it.”

Bucs collected 10 QB shots, two sacks, six losses, seven assists and two big INTs.

“It felt like we got our saliva back,” corner defender Jamel Dean said. “Even though we had some players down, it’s the next man up, and we just went on with what we had going on.”

Bucs smashed the Eagles ’ground game, including the RPOs and reading options, and quarterback Jalen Hurts headed a large part of the race. The safety game was phenomenal as Mike Edwards led the team with nine tackles and a TD-sparing, diving INT and Jordan Whitehead who flew across the field.

Tampa’s defense is as healthy as it has been for months, and it showed on Sunday. The Bowles crew spun on the field throughout the game and played behind the battle line.
