Boston College men’s hockey suffers a crushing defeat at Notre Dame

The BC men’s hockey team lost Our Lady tonight 8-2, even though he scored the first goal in tonight’s match.

Eagles jumped into the (very) early lead when captain Marc McLaughlin scored just 17 seconds from the match and lifted the Eagles 1-0 lead with a beautiful shot. BC continued to overtake Notre Dame throughout the first period with 10 shots to Notre Dames 8. Unfortunately, just under 8 minutes before the episode, Fighting Irish’s lucky bend leveled the game 1-1.

The first seconds of the second set were not quite as comfortable for BC as the first, as Matt Argentina was retrospectively judged to be 5 minutes big and a game error. Notre Dame took the 2-1 lead at the start of the penalty, but BC killed the remaining 5 minutes.

The Irish made it 3-1 at just 8:26 to get into the second set, stopping BC’s clear attempt and firing a rocket into the net. Just 2 minutes later, Notre Dame increased their lead to 4-1. After 5 minutes of play, Nikita Nesterenko got BC’s second 5 and the game dropped the Eagless list by two players. Notre Dame almost immediately turned that advantage into a 5-1 lead and then a 6-1 lead.

The Eagles started the third round by replacing Henry Wilder with Eric Dop. Trevor Kuntar cut off BC’s undefeated series a few minutes later during the period. He guided the puck into the net and cut Notre Dames ’lead to 6-2, but Notre Dame scored 7-2 in the third set. The Irish scored one more goal in the match, with the final score being 8-2.
