BC Women’s Hockey vs. Holy Cross: The Last Thoughts and Predictions

[ad_1]

We returned to Boston College Women’s Hockey after a short week. Tuesday’s game against Northeastern went pretty badly, and after this preview, we’ll never talk about it again. Fortunately, the Eagles are moving from the hardest game on the conference schedule to their easiest games, so if BC plans to get back on track, it will definitely happen this weekend.

Both games are streamed for free on CollegeSportsLive.com. Here is a link to Friday ‘s game and here is a link to Saturday’s game.

THE LAST TIME

Boston College played better than the 5-0 result suggests against Northeaster on Tuesday. The main thing was that BC evened out the number of shots compared to what they had risen earlier in the season against good teams. Hopefully this will turn into a positive game stream this weekend.

Holy Cross played a couple of games on Monday and Tuesday this week at home against Vermont and both of them first lost 3-1 in the first game before actually taking one jaw in a rough 9-0 loss on Tuesday. Yup.

PROJECTS

Finally, some games with the Eagles are highly favored. CRACK (used by the odds) the Eagles ranked 19th – though not brilliant – but Holy Cross is one of the lowest teams in the country in 38th out of 41 teams. Driving the numbers gives us an Eagles 89.2% chance of winning or a BC-826 with a local bookmaker. This also works with a 79.57% probability for a BC scan.

The Grant there are two teams in the rankings (used to share points) slightly closer to 22 BC and the 36th of the Holy Cross. Our calculator gives us a predicted score of 3.57-1.25 or something like a Boston College win of 4-1 or 3-1.

THIS STORY OF THIS WEEK

Back on track. At this point, which seems like an eternity, the Eagles started the season 6-0-0. It’s a little funny to look back on it now, but BC actually ranked ahead of Northeastern in the polls there for a hot minute. This winning streak came against several not-so-awesome teams, but that’s what the Eagles have this weekend. BC has done what they’ve done against bad teams this year, and if they want to settle for a decent possible outcome to host the Hockey East tournament in shock, they have to continue it and win both games.

MEAL OF THE WEEK OF THE WEEK

Apple sauce

That’s what our opponents will end up eating. Might as well make them feel welcome.

SONG OF THE PLAYING WEEK

Air – Tyson Ritter

What about us, what about us?
What about desire and lust?
What about loving the free fall now?
But what about the nights, were those nights?
Yes, dancing in the lights
What about this on the way?

Hah, “what about loving a free fall now …” Apparently most of these songs are barely related, kind of to the game at hand, if a little squeaky, but you have to laugh at how well that line fits. Supporting the men’s basketball team, Sicko has no monopoly on loving his favorite team despite the fact that everything breaks down at the seams. At least that’s kind of a new thing for the women’s hockey team.

FORECASTS

Look at this – if BC loses the game to Holy Cross, it would probably mark the low point in the last 20 years of the program. You have to take the downs to their highest, but hopefully the areas don’t go quite right that low.

BC beat the Crusaders 4-2 earlier this year. It’s not amazing, but it’s good enough, and frankly as bad as BC’s year has gone, Holy Cross has been even more nightmarish. They have lost 4-0 to NEWHA this season. AUH.

The Eagles are sweeping this weekend. One game is too close for comfort, but BC gets the first shutout of the season in the second. We call it a Eagles home win on Friday 3-2 before you can 4-0 road win on Saturday night.
