The Ducks retire late in the UW

SEATTLE, wash. Oregon used the late run of the game, fueled by its defense, to withdraw from Washington in the final two minutes of Friday’s 68-61 win.

The Ducks won for the fourth consecutive 20-point game Endyia Rogers and Summer Sabally Meanwhile Chanaya Pinto brought a lot of energy down the bench to stretch the late run.

“I’m glad we won the game and our way of ending the game,” the head coach said Kelly Graves. – After all, it’s a good victory against a really good Washington team.

How did it happen: Oregon worked on a one-point lead after just over two minutes and withdrew late in a 10-1 run fueled by his defensive forces. Leading 57-56 at 2:15, the Ducks got three buckets from three passes, two from Sabally and one from Pinto to open the 65-57 lead after 41 seconds.

The Ducks had a small advantage after the first set, and Rogers led the way and scored 10 points in a perfect 3-3 shot from the field. He hit three after a four-minute game to give Oregon a bit of a respite in a 13-10 situation as both teams switched buckets for the rest of the quarter to reach 19-15, the Ducks after one.

Washington jumped ahead in the second set and led by as many as five differences to 3:26 midway through, but the Ducks took a break in the 9-0 run to lead 34-30. Rogers hit the sweaters and Te-Hina Paopao fell for three years Phillipina Kyei gave a kick from the bench with a crash and three rebounds in the last four minutes of the half.

The Huskies swept the Oregon lead again and leveled the game to 43 after 3:28 in the third set, but the Ducks finished the quarter again to make a difference. Ahlise Hurst hit a third ahead of the UO 46-43, then Sabally took over by making the Ducks the final five points and made the score 51-47 and went fourth.

Who stood out: Rogers set a season record of 23 points, including 14 in the first half, 8-16 shots from the field and hit three shots from outside. Sabally turned in her third 20-point game of the season, scoring 20 points and seven rebounds, adding four assists and four assists.

Pinto again played the switch game during the stretch, scoring all four of his points and surviving each of his four passes in the fourth quarter while he grabbed a couple of rebounds.

“(Chanaya) was huge for us,” Graves said. “I thought he and Nyara were really in control of the game, and it’s nice to know we can turn to him.”
