There are many ways to evaluate the success of a college football program, and the state of Ohio checks almost all the boxes. You can measure based on national championships, conference championships, the number of NFL ticket players, and more.
Another way to measure the blue blood in college football is through big polls. One of them – AP Poll – has been around since 1936 and has not only crowned national champions in the past, but has continued to rank in the top 25 teams each week. Our friend on College Football News did their own analysis and was crowned the best program of all time based on the final ranking of each AP survey, but we thought about looking at it from a different perspective.
In this case, we look at which teams have ranked in the AP survey most of the time throughout history. And because the Associated Press ranks among the top 25, we do the same.
Here are the top 25 college football programs ever, according to what percentage of the time they ranked in the AP survey. We count down the number from 25 to forget. All information is taken from College Poll Archive.
