Noah Elliot will compete in the LL1 finals of men’s snowboarding at the 2022 World Snowboard Championships on January 14, 2022 in Lillehammer, Norway.

Elliott is located just outside of Steamboat Springs in Colorado and is confident that her mother will help with her eight-year-old daughter when she has to travel to work.

“It’s crazy. I have to work just as hard as everyone else – if not harder – to be able to do what I do,” Elliot said. “If it turns out to be inspiring, it’s awesome. But we’re normal people who have to make sacrifices like everyone else. I have to sacrifice time away from my family to put food on the table.”

Thanks to his prosthetic leg, the 2018 Paralympic is used to people watching him – and about him – but he said most people don’t realize that para-athletes get inspiration too.

For the double medalist, he gets inspiration from his daughter Skylar.

A couple of years ago, when her daughter was six, Elliott put her on the snow and started teaching her the basics of snowboarding. He said it helped him rediscover and fall in love with snowboarding.

“I was inspired to see him fall and commit and fall and commit,” he said, a feeling he remembered from the early days on the skateboard – a sport he fell in love with long before he was diagnosed with cancer.

“Through sport, a certain level of character is built,” Elliott said, “and when you consider that someone is becoming more confident in their daily lives because of it, it’s really inspiring.”

“It’s so cool to jump in a chair lift with your son or daughter and go to the top, fasten your straps and drive down together. When you’re riding and watching your child crush, it’s one of the coolest feelings ever, ”Dad said as he watched someone he loved conquer the sport he loved.

“Snowboarding has had a huge impact on him as a human being,” he said. “He’s more confident when he goes out and he’s more willing to try things out. That’s all thanks to snowboarding.

Skylar’s ​​father has shown similar confidence in the snow these days, and he grabbed his first world championship on the opening day of the ultimate snowboarding finals at the 2021 World Snowboard Championships earlier this month in Lillehammer, Norway.

Calling this “one like never before,” Elliott hopes to stamp his flag on Beijing – where he plans to add his gold and bronze medals when the Beijing Paralympics 2022 begins on March 4, 2022.
