5 things I look forward to this summer!

With the matches now being released and the summer fast approaching, here’s a list of the key things to look out for in our Glamorgan 2022 match calendar, including defending the Royal London Cup and the 20th anniversary of Vitality Blast.

1. 20 years of Blastia

It may seem hard to believe, but Vitality Blast is celebrating 20 yearsth anniversary this year and is once again becoming an exciting season for action-packed T20 cricket.

Glamorgan will play seven home games in the group stage, opening our home game against the Essex Eagles on Thursday, 2nd.ndJune and our “Battle of the Bridge” against Gloucestershire on Tuesday 7thth August, while our final home game is a success in the light of Friday night at Sophia Gardens against local rival Somerset 24.thJune at The Big Match.

2. The return of Marnus and Neser

We welcome Aussie superstars and Ashes winners, Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser back to Wales this year.

Labuschagne returns to Sophia Gardens as the world’s number one test taker after continuing his dominance in third place during the Ashes victory as Australia rose to the top of the test chart.

Neser made his debut under the lights 2nd A test in Adelaide, where she demanded a maiden test for her victim Haseeb Hameed early in England. Neser took 24 points in five County Championship matches in Welsh County during a very impressive debut season.

3. England vs South Africa

Don’t miss this summer’s only International, as Eoin Morgan’s men face the rejuvenated Proteas side on Thursday 28th.th July.

England have a significant IT20 record in Cardiff and are unbeaten in all eight matches they have played on the field.

England is the number one IT20 team, while South Africa is one of the driving forces in the world game and includes some of the world’s best IT20 players in its ranks, including Quinton de Kock, Tabraiz Shamsi and Rassie van der Dussen.

4. Our defense from the Royal London Cup

After last year’s epic victory at Trent Bridge, we aim to defend our Royal London One Day Cup title.

Glamorgan grabbed their first silver games in seventeen years by winning their first ever final in 58 years of one-day cricket as they beat Durham comfortably in front of 7,200 in Nottingham.

Each province will play eight group stage matches – four at home and four away – and the top three in each group will advance to the playoffs.

Glamorgan welcomes strong teams to South Wales and opens race against Fields on Thursday 4th August, before meeting Yorkshire and then Lancashire and ending their group stage campaign against Hampshire on Friday 19th.th August.

5. Glamorgan returns to Neath

Glamorgan will play their first senior games in Neath in 27 years as we play two Royal London Cup matches at Gnoll.

Neath was last used in a high-profile Glamorgan match in 1995 when County Wales tied for a strong Young Australia team, including Ricky Ponting, Matthew Elliott, Stuart Law, Justin Langer, Adam Gilchrist and Michael Kasprowicz – who later joined Elliott. played in Glamorgan and became a solid fan favorite.

This year, welcome to Lancashire on Wednesday, August 17 and Hampshire on Friday, August 17.
