ITA Kickoff Weekend Host Site: Texas is once again hosting a regional site for ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Texas Tennis Center. Longhorns will face Florida Atlantic on Friday, Jan. 28 (11 a.m. CT) and either SMU or Rice on Saturday, Jan. 29 (2 p.m. CT). The winners of each regional site will advance to the ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships from 11-14. February in Madison, Wis.

Team rankings: Texas is 1st in the latest national rankings for the ITA Collegiate Division I (Jan. 26). This is the fourth consecutive poll in which the Longhorns have been in the rankings. UT earned No. 1 in last year’s last poll and is ranked No. 1 in every first three weekly polls this season starting on January 5th. Texas has been in the Top 10 for the past four years. final national polls (No. 6 in 2018, No. 9 in 2019, No. 4 in 2020, and No. 1 in 2021).

Individual investments: Two UT players in current ITA national Top 125 singles rankings (December 8): Kylie Collins (No. 40) and Malaika Rapolu (No. 117). The Longhorns pair is also on the tab in the current ITA national Top 60 doubles rankings (December 8): Charlotte Chavatipon and Kylie Collins.

Opening of the season doubles sweep: Texas opened the 2022 doubles season with a 7-0 home win against Texas State on Sunday (January 23rd). UT earned a four-point game and won a straight set in all six doubles to win the dominant way.

A solid start in Miami: Texas recorded a total of 10 doubles and two doubles wins at the three-day Miami Invitational (Jan. 15-17) in Coral Gables, Fla. In Sophomores. Peyton Stearns and Kylie Collins each ranked perfect with 3-0 points in singles, while second-year students Charlotte Chavatipon and Malaika Rapolu both recorded a 2-1 record in the doubles. Collins defeated three placed opponents, defeating 25th place in Abigail Renchel’s NC State (2-6, 6-1, 6-4), No. 96 from Marcella Cruz’s Vanderbilt (6-3, 6-3) and No. 25. 76 Isabella Pfennig, Miami (3-6, 6-4, 6-4). Stearns earned an impressive 6-4, 6-3 victory over NC State’s 8th Jaeda Daniel and won a 6-4, 6-0 Vanderbilt 112th from Anessa Lee. Rapolu increased the win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 against Vanderbilt’s Holly Staff No. 119.

Big 12 Preseason favorite: Texas will be selected to win the Big 12 Conference Championship in a league coaching poll in the pre-season poll. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. Texas was pre-selected as a favorite of the big 12 for the fourth year in a row and for the fifth time in the history of the survey. UT was the unanimous favorite among the other head coaches as it scored all nine first-place points and 81 points in the coming season in 2022. Baylor finished second with 68 points and one first-place vote, while Oklahoma was third with 66 points. At the end of the vote in descending order are Oklahoma State (60), Iowa State (48), Texas Tech (39), Kansas (35), TCU (29), Kansas State (24) and West Virginia (9).

Two-match tube: Texas will compete on Friday against FAU Sport 25-match winning streak. Texas finished its 2021 NCAA Championship by winning their last 24 matches of the year. UT’s last loss came in a 4-3 thriller to the then Nolle. 1 North Carolina in the ITA Indoor Championship on February 7, 2021.

Big 12 tubes: Texas owns the current 31-match winning streak in the Big 12 regular season doubles. Longhorns has not dropped in the regular season of the conference since losing 4-2 at Baylor on April 12, 2017.

Home success in TTC: Longhorns is playing his fifth year at the Texas Tennis Center. UT has recorded a number of 42-3 in the TTC doubles, including a complete 15-0 record in the Big 12 regular season matches. In its starting season in 2018, Texas won at home 13-0 (5-0 in the Big 12 game). Longhorns won 8-2 at TTC in 2019 (3-0 Big 12) and 7-1 in the shortened season 2020 (2-0 Big 12). UT scored a full 13-0 point at TTC in 2021 (5-0 Big 12) and is 1-0 this season.

Joffe in seven: Head coach Howard Joffe is in its seventh term leading the UT program. Joffe, the 2021 ITA Division I Women’s Coach of the Year, has scored 116-32 (.784) points in the previous six years in Texas and a record 247-93 (.726) 14 in the previous season as college head coach. . She has helped four Longhorns earn a total of five ITA All-America awards in singles (Breaunna Addison in 2016, Bianca Turati in 2018, Anna Turati and Bianca Turati in 2020 and Peyton Stearns in 2021) and one duo deserves ITA All-American recognition in doubles (Kylie Collins and Lulu Sun. in 2021), while 12 of his UT players have registered a total of 15 private All-Big 12 games and 14 All-Big 12 four-handed games.
