INDIANAPOLIS – The women’s IUPUI tennis team, which is still playing a short circuit, crashed into Dayton’s 7-0 home game today. Senior Sarah Lounsbury showed strong effort in No. 3 singles, took his match into three innings but eventually dropped (6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (8)).
Jags had to lose points No. 5 and No. 6 in the doubles, giving the Flyers a two-point advantage. IUPUI also lost the number 3 doubles to start the match, bringing the Flyers one step closer to a double-point win. Dayton used his winnings in the 1st and 2nd doubles and took a point with a 6-3 win in the 2nd doubles from the IUPUI partnership. Christina Stankovic and Lounsbury.
IUPUI had to climb the ladder again in doubles as Bernard dropped to 1st (6-3, 6-1) in singles and Samantha Hayward dropped duel number 2 (6-0, 6-2). Junior Diya Matta won Dayton’s Laura Greb in 4th place in the doubles (7-6 (4), 6-0).
Jags will host the state of Illinois on Sunday (Jan. 30) at 4 p.m.
