Jim Harbaugh was waiting to leave Michigan football for the NFL

This has apparently been the case. Michigan football seems to be looking for a new head coach in February.

Chris Balas of The Wolverine.com says Jim Harbaugh will be offered the Minnesota Vikings job and he will accept it when it is offered..

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is on his way to Minnesota for Wednesday’s interview, but according to several sources, it’s a formality. Harbaugh plans to sign a deal to become head coach of the NFL Vikings.

Harbaugh was not in his office at Schembechler Hall today. Other sources told TheWolverine.com that although he did not speak to the team, he said goodbye and thanked yesterday.

Until then, it had gone normally when Harbaugh recruited and set his spring schedule.

This leaves Wolverines in some sort of shortage. Although the NFL coaching cycle will be played so late in the season – given that its season is still in the pipeline with the upcoming Super Bowl – college football will end in early January. Many coach positions will be filled by mid-December, as the early signing time will be in the middle of the month. Aside from an incredible contingency plan, Harbaugh’s late departure will leave not only corn and blues in short supply, but also potentially existing assistant coaches, depending on what they decide to do, as well as the players currently on the list.

While we have to wait and see what really happens, it increasingly seems like Wolverines is looking for a new head coach for the first time in eight years.
