WVWC men’s tennis picked fourth in the MEC preseason poll

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. The University of Charleston Golden Eagles have been selected to win the 2022 Mountain East Conference men’s tennis title after a vote by the league’s coaches.

Charleston finished atop the poll with 36 points, including six first-place votes. The Golden Eagles swept both the regular season and tournament titles a season ago, and Returns the league’s Player of the Year in John Giesberts along with fellow All-MEC first team selection Marshall Dagostine.

Fairmont State was picked second in the poll with 30 points and one first-place vote. West Liberty was third (23 points), followed by West Virginia Wesleyan (22), West Virginia State (16), Davis & Elkins (12) and Frostburg State (8).

The top four teams in the regular season advance to the MEC Tournament that will be held April 30-May 1 in Charleston, W.Va.
