HOW TO BUY WASHINGTON COMMANDERS GEAR

Legendary Washington quarterback Joe Theismanna New Jersey Hall of Famer (class of 2011)Accidentally leaked the name change Monday during an interview with CBS Sports’ Damon Amendolara.

“I think the Commanders is a name that is going to be one that hopefully people like going forward. … There were so many different options, but once again it’s a trademark infringement, it’s getting approval from different people. If you choose a name, is there a group out there that isn’t going to like it? There’s so many things that you’ve got to consider. Commander, basically, it’s Washington, DC A lot of commanders in Washington DC and the Pentagon, and a lot of different branches of the service. So to me, that’s the way I’m looking at it, as positions of leadership when it comes to the new name. ”

Corroborating Theismann’s statement was video shot Tuesday by NBC4 in Washington which showed Commanders signage at FedEx Field.

And then there was this tweet from Washington Insider Chad Ryan: “Staff at the team store at FedEx Field are currently unloading boxes and stocking shelves with Washington Commanders Merchandise.”
