Cowboy Tennis Closes Weekend With Victory Over UNLV

STILLWATER, Okla. For the second consecutive day, Oklahoma State’s men’s tennis team defeated UNLV, cruising to a 4-2 victory on Sunday inside the Greenwood Tennis Center.

With the win, the Cowboys moved to 4-5 on the year, including a 4-2 mark at home. OSU’s series Sweep also gave UNLV its first two losses of the year.

Alex Garcia and Max Verboven started the match with a statement, impressively securing court one over Jackson Atherton and Anton Ornberg, 6-1. OSU’s duo of Leighton Allen and Fran Pini clinched the doubles point on court two with a 6-2 win against Zac Brodney and Milos Dabic. Just one court over, Seb Nothhaft and Sammr Raina were close to closing in on Zach Garner and Christopher Bulus, 5-4, when play was called.

OSU Wasted no time in singles play with Leighton Allen swiftly taking control on court four, dealing a straight-set loss to Milos Dabic, 6-2, 6-2.

Like clockwork, Alex Garcia was next to finish on court two. Garcia Secured his opening set, 6-4, and rode the momentum into the second, 6-3, against Zac Brodney. Fran Pini pocketed another commanding 6-3, 6-2, straight-set Victory to secure the win on court five.

With the match already clinched, the Cowboys and Rebels played out the remaining matches on courts one and six.

UNLV’s 48th-ranked Christopher Bulus Secured a three-set Victory on court one against No. 88 Seb Nothhaft, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, to tally the Rebels first point of the day.

Court three was left Unfinished where Max Verboven held the upper hand against Zach Garner, 3-6, 6-3.

Sammr Raina took the court against Jackson Atherton, which went the way of the visitors, 6-4, 7-5.
