Table Tennis New South Wales

Table Tennis New South Wales (TTNSW) was recognized in the 2021 Top 25 Most Popular Kids Activities in Sydney Olympic Park. This award recognized TTNSW’s achievement in 2021 with the highest number of visits and activities, positive reviews, overall engagement and success, and identified TTNSW as a Trusted and popular state governing body for the sport of table tennis in New South Wales.

President of TTNSW, Tony Aduckiewicz said: “TTNSW is proud of its achievement and this award is well deserved. 2021 is a challenging year for the table tennis communities in NSW, Australia and globally, but TTNSW overcame all unforeseen difficulties and barriers and achieved the most success in 2021. ”

Tony continued: “2021 is a great year for TTNSW, and it’s important to review our junior players’ achievement throughout the year. The Highlights of our junior players’ Achievements in 2021 include, but are not limited to:

Yangzi Liu undertook a hugely successful European Tour winning 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 Bronze medals in the last 2021. Mingxuan Nie won the Gold Medal of the U19 Girls Team at the 2021 US Open Table Tennis Championships on Dec 22, 2021.

Alice Lee was honored in the 2022 Australia Day Young Achiever of the Year Award for her excellent community service on 26 January 2022 – Australia Day and became the youngest Winner of Australia Day Youth Citizen of the Year Awards in Australia.

Michelle Bromley was selected to represent Australia in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and became the first New South Wales born and raised female Olympian in Australian table tennis history.

TTNSW Junior players Hwan Bae and Angela Wang were awarded the Commonwealth Games NSW (CGNSW) Athlete Grant of $ 1000 each for 2021.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has changed the format and qualification process for the 2021 World Youth Championships, and players are now offered positions by ITTF based solely on world rankings.

Chulong Nie was the only player from New South Wales offered a qualification by ITTF to represent Australia in the 2021 World Youth Championships.

TTNSW junior players won National Hopes with Gold medals to Daisy Xie, Leonard Piyachai and Sophie Zhou. 22 TTNSW junior players were selected into the 2022 National Squad or National Hopes Squad

Despite the effects of the Lockdown TTNSW membership grew strongly in 2021 with the 2241 members mark being attained. A further 25 TOPS coaches, 22 Level 1 coaches, 4 Level 2 coaches and 1 Level 3 Coach were Accredited by TTA in 2021.

Vice President of TTNSW, Ted Davis Ted said: “TTNSW is proud of its Achievements in getting more and more kids to join our sports. TTNSW organized dozens of tournaments, trainings and camps in Sydney Olympic Park with around 1000 kids’ involvement multiple

times a year. It is expected there will be around 1000 junior players to register to be members of TTNSW in 2022. ”

Ted and Tony continued: “TTNSW is one of the pilot partners of the Table Tennis Australia (TTA) school sports program to support primary school students as they transition from a school-based sporting program to participating in their local sporting club, promoting Lifelong engagement in sport. TTNSW wants to build on that success to keep those kids who really enjoyed their table tennis experience at school playing table tennis as one of their sports of choice in their entire lives. ”

Ted and Tony emphasized: “TTNSW trusts that more and more junior players from NSW will represent Australia to compete in the future Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. It is the best time for us to promote table tennis as one of school sports in each school and every school in all NSW right now. ”
