Oregon Football Spring Camp Updates: Practice Two

[ad_1]

EUGENE, Ore. – The Ducks returned to the practice turfs for the second of two workouts prior to spring break. Once again, the team was blessed to play beneath the clear skies of the midmorning sun.

The team remained in helmets, Spider pads and shorts, meaning no full-contact periods took place. Media was able to observe the first 20 minutes of practice which included stretch, ball security drills and individual position drills.

New head Coach Dan Lanning was front and center for the workouts, encouraging the team with the help of new strength and conditioning Coach Wilson Love and others. Love may not have the easily identifiable Mustache of Aaron Feldbut he’s as loud and energetic on the field and the players seem to be receptive to his energy.

Lanning used a microphone to command the shift of periods on Thursday but did not use one on Saturday, perhaps a sign of growth from day one to two.

Drills included special teams work for the second consecutive day. Time was spent on punt returns, onside kick returns, and downfield coverage. This acts as a shift from the previous staff. Return men separated from the ball security drills to practice catching punts / kicks from a machine while the Specialists worked on kickoffs on the other field.

Several notable recruits took in practice led by 2023 five-star Matayo Uiagalelei

Below is a rundown of our notes from the second day of spring football practice.
