The Center has hiked the budget under Khelo India campaign by 32.5%, so that the Indian Athletes get world class facilities and perform better in international level sports events like Olympics, Union Minister for Youth Services and Sports Anurag Thakur said on Tuesday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Khelo India Residential Academy for Weightlifting and Table Tennis at Rainbow International School, Nagrota Bagwan of Kangra district. Thakur said that special emphasis is being placed on developing infrastructure for sports at the village level as well and training of the Athletes.
The Union Minister said that help is also being provided by the government to organize competitions at the block, district, state and national levels, so that Athletes can get an opportunity to excel in their discipline.He added that residential sports academies would be opened at different levels across the country.
CUHP to host Netball c’ship
The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), Dharmshala, will be hosting the All-India Inter University Netball (W) Championship 2022, vice-chancellor Sat Prakash Bansal said on Tuesday. Besides, the CUHP will also host the Inter-Zonal Men’s Kho-Kho Tournament. Bansal said that it was for the first time that an All-India Inter University level Championship is being held in Himachal.
