“It’s disappointing to have a lead going into the final round and lose it, but I’m proud of the way our guys played on the back and never quit,” Head Coach Casey Lubahn said. “We fell behind early in the morning, but we never let them get away, so we had a chance to get back there. It’s disappointing, but it’s good to get in that competitive mode as we wrap up the season and get ready for the Big Ten Championships. “
Sophomore August Meekhof was the top finisher for the Spartans, tying for sixth place at 2-over par 215, including a 2-over par 73 on Sunday.
Junior Brad Smithson shot a 6-over par 77 in the final round and finished in a tie for eighth place at 5-over par 216.
