Coronado sophomore Ian Uraga finished as the runner-up in boys singles Wednesday at the UIL Class 6A state tennis tournament in San Antonio.
Uraga lost 7-5, 6-4 to San Antonio Reagan’s Kyle Totorica at the Northside Tennis Center.
Uraga reached the Finals by winning his quarterfinal and semifinal match on Tuesday. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Cal Riggs of The Woodlands, 7-5, 6-2. In the semifinals, they defeated Lathan Skrobarcek of Northside Harland, 6-3, 0-6, 6-3.
In the Class 6A girls competition, Coronado’s Naomi Katz lost 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals on Tuesday to China’s Graham of Round Rock Westwood. Katz, who was the District 1-6A and Region 1-6A Champion, defeated Tara Ahmadi of the Houston Memorial 6-3, 6-4 in Tuesday’s quarterfinals.
In Class 2A girls doubles, Brianna Estrada and Julissa Herrera of Fort Hancock lost 6-1, 6-4 in Tuesday’s quarterfinals to Lucy Rochat and Kinsley Jordan of Mason.
