T&F: Gibson Advances to 110 Hurdles Quarterfinals at NCAA Prelims

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On day one at the NCAA West Prelims at John McDonnell Field, HBU senior Garrett Gibson finished in the top three in his heat to advance to the quarterfinals in the 110 meter hurdles.

Gibson’s first race of the day, the 110h, saw the senior running in the first heat and posting a time of 13.90 to place third among the seven Runners. By virtue of placing third, they earned an automatic spot among the 24 Runners advancing to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals will be run on Friday, May 27, at 6:15 pm with a trip to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. on the line.

A couple of hours later, Gibson was back on the track to run in the 400 meter hurdles as part of the sixth and final heat. He finished seventh of the eight Runners with a time of 52.50, placing 36th overall.

Jessica Rabius and Kaitlin Smith will be running on Thursday, May 26, with Smith running the 100 meter hurdles at 6:00 pm followed by the 400h at 8:20 pm Rabius is set for the 1500 meters at 6:30 pm
