Sooners Win Big 12 Championship

ARLINGTON, Texas – Cade Horton registered career Highs of nine strikeouts and 5.1 innings and Oklahoma scored eight runs in the third Inning to win the 2022 Big 12 Championship with an 8-1 win over Texas Sunday evening at Globe Life Field.

The Sooners (37-20) sent 11 batters to the plate in the third Inning, scoring all eight runs before an out was recorded. Tanner Tredaway hit a two-run single and Jimmy Crooks hit a three-run home run to break open the game.

Horton provided Oklahoma with his fourth straight tremendous effort in the Big 12 Championship. He allowed a first-Inning home run, then shut down the Longhorns (42-19), allowing only one hit – a one-out single in the third Inning – for the rest of his outing. With two runners in scoring position in the fourth inning, he struck out consecutive batters

This is Oklahoma’s third Big 12 Championship and first since 2013. The Sooners won the league’s initial tournament title in 1997.
