ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Four individuals from the University of Michigan men’s track and field team will contend with the nation’s best for titles and All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships this Wednesday and Friday (June 8 and 10) inside the confines of the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.

Joshua Zeller (110-meter hurdles) enters the Championships as one of the fastest men in the world and a top-three medal contender, and will be joined by multiple-time NCAA Qualifiers Dubem Amene (400 meters), Miles Brown (800 meters) and Christian Hubaker (3,000-meter Steeplechase) as they all seek the second individual All-America honors of their respective Careers.

Wednesday’s (June 8) schedule for the Wolverines will see all four men in their respective semifinals battling for spots in Friday’s (June 10) Finals. The Qualifying action begins for Michigan at 5:02 pm PDT on Wednesday, with the final-round competition on Friday beginning as early as 6:24 pm, depending on who qualifies.

The top-eight finishers in Friday’s Finals will score team points for their respective schools and be recognized as the first team of All-Americans, with finishers nine through 16 earning second team All-America honors. The remaining finishers earn Honorable mention status from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, but are not considered All-Americans.

Both days of the competition will be televised live on ESPN2 and streamed live on ESPN.com. Live results will be provided through Flash Results. Updates will be posted to the official Michigan track and field social media channels throughout the day.

Meet the Wolverine Contenders

Joshua Celery | 110-Meter Hurdles
Semifinals: Wednesday at 5:32 pm PDT | Final: Friday at 6:42 pm PDT

2022 Big Ten Champion in the 110-meter hurdles and indoor 60-meter hurdles.
Fastest 110-meter hurdler in Big Ten history at 13.19 seconds (+1.6 meters-per-second [m/s] wind reading) and No. 7 in Collegiate history.
Ranked No. 2 among collegians in 2022, no. 5 in the world for 2022.
Competed at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships but fell in the semifinals and did not advance; finished 16th at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60-meter hurdles.
The fastest time ever run by a Big Ten athlete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships final site is 13.30 in the semifinals by Illinois ’Andrew Riley in 2012.
Additional time to watch: 13.11 is the British U23 record in the 110-meter hurdles, which has stood since 1988.
The best finish by a Michigan man in this event is third place, achieved by Thomas Wilcher in 1985, Elmer Gedeon in 1938, Hawley Egleston in 1933 and Don Cooper in 1928. In 2007, Jeff Porter was the last man to earn All-American honors with a fourth-place finish. The Wolverines have earned 15 total All-America honors in this event.

Dubem Amene | 400 Meters
Semifinals: Wednesday at 6 pm PDT | Final: Friday at 7:02 pm PDT

2022 Big Ten silver medalist both indoors and outdoors at 400 meters.
Owns the 19th-fastest time in the field at 45.51 seconds from the NCAA East Preliminary, where he missed the 37-year-old school record by 0.04 seconds.
Competed at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 4×400 relay, but the team did not finish; earned first team All-America honors at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in the distance Medley relay, and was a second team All-American at 400 meters.
The last Michigan man to earn All-America honors in this event was Kent Bernard in 1964 with a third-place finish. His also is the best finish in program history, tied with Nathan Feinsinger since 1926. The Wolverines have earned seven total All-America honors in this event.

Miles Brown | 800 Meters
Semifinals: Wednesday at 6:14 pm PDT | Final: Friday at 7:14 pm PDT

2022 Big Ten silver medalist indoors at 600 meters and 2022 Bronze medalist outdoors at 800 meters.
Owns the 22nd-fastest time in the field at 1: 48.04.
Individual school record holder indoors at 600 and 800 meters.
Making his NCAA Outdoor Championships debut; earned first-team All-America honors at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Championships in the distance Medley relay, and was a second-team All-American at 800 meters.
He is one of eight men who qualified for both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Championships at 800 meters, and the only true freshman to do so.
With his indoor 1: 47.37 at this distance, Brown Ranks No. 21 all-time on the Absolute (indoor and outdoor combined) United States U20 performers list in this event. Only 15 U20 men in American history have run faster than 1: 47.00
The last Michigan man to earn All-America honors in this event was national champion Andrew Ellerton in 2007. He is one of two men to have won a title in the event, along with Ross Hume in 1945. Michigan has earned 18 All-America honors in this event.

Christian Hubaker | 3,000-Meter Steeplechase

Owns the 23rd-fastest time in the field at 1: 48.04
Earned second-team All-America honors in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships
The last Michigan man to earn All-America honors at this event was Hubaker in 2021, and the last first-team honoree was national champion Mason Ferlic in 2016. Hubaker will look to join Ferlic (2013-16), Craig Forys (2011- 12), and John Mortimer (1997-98) as multiple-time All-Americans in the event. Michigan has claimed 14 All-America honors in this event, 10 of which are first-team honors.
