TEMPE, Ariz. The Duquesne University Women’s tennis team earned the ITA Atlantic Regional Community Service Award announced by the organization.
The team put in a total of 128 Volunteer hours which included multiple events including running a pair of City Parks Tennis Clinics, as well as an Acing Autism event. Both the men’s and women’s teams helped organize and run the Acing Autism Clinic for kids on the Autism Spectrum.
The teams also volunteered hours for Breast Cancer Awareness / Pink Week, the Boys & Girls Clubs Empower Her event, put together Easter baskets for Residents at Vincentian Nursing Home and volunteered hours at Second Harvest Thrift Store among other events.
At the Boys and Girls Club Empower Her event, members of the team ran a station that taught girls aged 6-9 the importance of sports, while showing them fun games and techniques through tennis.
The national award winners will be announced on Monday, June 13.
