ASUN reveals 2022-23 league Slate for men’s basketball

ATLANTA, Ga. –The ASUN Conference announced its 2022-23 Men’s Basketball schedule on Thursday marking the 44th season of league competition. For the first time in the history of the ASUN, 14 teams are preparing to battle it out to claim the Bob Vanatta Trophy.

The conference season tips off on Thursday, Dec. 29, with six teams in action. Reigning ASUN Champion Bellarmine begins its league Slate at home by hosting Liberty in a 2022 ASUN Championship Semifinal rematch while Lipscomb hosts Stetson. League newcomers Austin Peay and Queens get their first taste of league action against each other when the Governors battle the Royals in the Queen City. After representing the ASUN in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, Jacksonville State opens its conference schedule inside the Pete Mathews Coliseum against the in-state Rival of North Alabama on New Year’s Eve.

A rematch of last season’s ASUN Championship Final between the Knights and the Jacksonville Dolphins takes place inside the Historic Swisher Gymnasium on Feb. 22. The final day of the regular season is slated for Feb. 24 with Central Arkansas (vs. Kennesaw State), FGCU (vs. APSU), JAX (vs. Eastern Kentucky), Liberty (vs. Queens), UNA (vs. JSU), North Florida (vs. BU), and Stetson ( vs. Lipscomb) all hosting games.

The 2023 ASUN Championship will have a 10-team format. All games take place at campus sites with the top seeds hosting each successful round of the event. The first round begins on Monday, Feb. 27 with the Championship final taking place on Sunday, March 5.

Each team plays 18 games which feature at least one Matchup against each other member of the conference
Last season’s ASUN Championship Finalists in Bellarmine and Jacksonville meet only once (Feb. 22 in Jacksonville)
APSU and Queens compete in their first ASUN contest against each other on Dec. 29 in Charlotte to open conference play
Rematches of the 2022 ASUN Championship Semifinals take place on Dec. 29 & Feb. 9 (BU vs. Liberty) and Jan. 2 (JAX vs. JSU)
