Corio venue to host hockey at 2026 Games

Geelong will play host to some of the world’s best hockey players, as more details are released around the 2026 regional Victoria Commonwealth Games.

The state minister for the Commonwealth Games Jacinta Allan was at Stead Park in Corio to announce the facility will be the hub for hockey in four years time.

Australia’s excelled in the sport at the Commonwealth Games level for several years.

The Kookaburras have won every men’s team gold medal since 1994 and the Hockeyroos are four-time Women’s champions.

Stead Park is the home of Hockey Geelong and currently features two synthetic pitches, one sand and one hybrid.

Geelong’s also set to host aquatics, para swimming, beach volleyball, gymnastics, hockey, table tennis, para table tennis, triathlon and para triathlon.

Commonwealth Games Victoria 2026 will be held between 17-29 March.
