Ashleigh Barty admits she loves golf but adds that doesn’t necessarily mean that she will opt to pursue a professional golf career. Barty stunned the tennis world when she announced her retirement from professional tennis at the age of 25.
In late 2014, Barty walked away from tennis and played cricket at a professional level. After being out of tennis for a year, Barty made her return to the game in 2016. Barty enjoyed much bigger tennis success after returning from a break as she won three Grand Slams and reached the top spot before retiring this past March.
Barty has been playing golf since retiring from tennis and many wonder if the Australian decides to pursue a professional golf career. “You never have that answer,” Barty told Sky Sports, per Eurosport. “I love the sport, it has been a Hobby of mine for a long time, but I don’t know if I will ever be fully committed to going out on the range and doing the required practice and the discipline, but I love the sports”.
Barty is the difference between tennis and golf
“With tennis it is so different,” Barty said. “Tennis is a quick pace, reactive, receptive sport. Golf is the opposite. It is slow, you have time to think, you have control and time to analyze what you need to do.
It is a polar opposite, and almost a form of meditation when I was playing tennis. It is a lot of fun. It can be frustrating but I really enjoy it”. In late March, Barty held a press conference to explain the reasons behind her shocking decision to retire from tennis.
Barty is known as a big sports fan and Reporters wanted to know whether there were any plans to play another sport professionally. At the time, Barty said she had no immediate plans to play another sport, but didn’t close the door on the possibility of playing another sport in the future.
