Twin Valley goalie Maddie Stevens selected to elite all-star game in field hockey – Reading Eagle

Twin Valleys Maddie Stevens, a rising junior field hockey goalie, was selected to play in the Stars and Stripes Game at the Nexus Championship last month in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Stars and Stripes Game is an all-star game featuring the top Athletes from around the country as identified throughout the Nexus event by the USA Field Hockey Junior High Performance selectors.

Top players in U-14, U-16 and U-19 age categories were invited to the Nexus Championship to work with USA Field Hockey’s coaching staff and compete in a tournament. The event serves as an opportunity for USA Field Hockey to assess players and select them for further opportunities.

Stevens, who recently committed to attend Liberty University, is a two-time All-Berks pick who had 12 shutouts and allowed 25 goals in 29 games in helping the Raiders win Berks, District 3 Class 2A and PIAA Class 2A Championships last fall. She was part of the U-16 Rise portion of the Nexus Championships.

Five other Berks Athletes participated in the Nexus Championships.

Competing in U-19 were Berks Catholics Aubreigh Uba and Oley Valleys Taylor Vaccaro; in U-16 was Wilson’s Caroline Horace; and in U-14 was Oley Valley’s Cassidy Clark and Wilson’s Sophie Wilchek.
