Serena Williams’ likely final trip to the US Open begins with a first-round matchup against Danka Kovinic. With Williams presumably set to retire following the tournament, all eyes are on the legendary tennis pro every time she steps onto the court.
Williams and Kovinic are set to begin play at 7 pm ET with the match airing on ESPN and streaming on fuboTV (try for free). Coming off a first-round exit at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, Williams is looking to bounce back with a strong start at the 2022 US Open.
This is the first Matchup between the two, and Williams has had plenty of success at Flushing Meadows throughout the years. Conversely, Kovinic has only gotten out of the first round at the US Open twice and was eliminated in the second round in 2015 and 2020.
Williams has reached the US Open semifinals in 11 consecutive appearances, and she has won the tournament six times. Just one Grand Slam title behind Margaret Court on the all-time list, Williams is looking to tie her at 24 before riding off into the sunset.
