NORTHFIELD, Minn. The Macalester College Women’s cross-country team finished in second place on Friday evening, at the Ole Opener Hosted by St. Olaf. The Scots scored 44 points to finish behind the Oles (17) but ahead of Luther (81).
Junior Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) was the first for Macalester to cross the line. She finished fourth with a time of 19:47.3. First year Sky Thedosopolous made her Collegiate debut as the second Scot to finish the race. She finished seventh in a time of 20:26.2. Juniors Maggie Froh (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King International School) and Sylvia Greene (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) finished 10thth (20:44.3) and 12th (21:03.2) respectively. First year Mara Pirone (Carrboro, NC/Chapel Hill) placed 16th (21:27.1) to be the fifth Scots across the line. Sophomores Sylvia Coyle (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and Ellie Sablak (Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle) took 19th (21:29.4) and 31St (22:08.9) respectively to round out Macalester’s top seven.
Macalester competes next at the MIAC Preview Meet in St. Paul, Minn. is Friday Sept. 9. The meet will be hosted by Hamline.
