LUBBOCK Oklahoma State’s Raquel Gonzalez, Ayumi Miyamoto, Sofia Rojas and Kristina Novak will all represent the Cowgirl tennis team at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) 15K Lubbock Pro Circuit to start the fall campaign. The first tournament of the year will open play on Monday, September 19, at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock, Texas.
The freshman, Gonzalez, has received an automatic bid into the main draw while Miyamoto, Rojas and Novak will have to win two rounds in the Qualifying draw before advancing to the focal event.
Gonzalez proves to be an exciting addition to the Squad as she picked up her first grand slam junior singles win at the US Junior Open two weeks ago. All-American, Miyamoto, also serves to be a key player this year as she comes off a final four appearance at the NCAA Individual Championships last May.
After a successful 10-5 record with the Cowgirls last year, Rojas will take the court this Monday to begin her sophomore season. Novak, a transfer from Nebraska, will compete with OSU for the first time after capturing first-team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season last year.
